HISTORY
Meadow
Brook Veterinary Hospital began in 1901 by an old mariner retired
from the sea... treating all kinds of critters!
No, really, it started in 1981 as a satellite clinic of Kent
Animal Hospital. Back then, there was only a stop sign at the corner
of 119 and 280 Highway. Brook Highland's Shopping Center was a horse
farm! Lloyd's was there, of course. Things have really changed since
then.
VETERINARIANS
- Billy Cox DVM and Laura Wilson DVM
BILLY
COX DVM
Dr. Billy Cox graduated from Auburn in 1986. Since then, he has
"doctored" nearly every kind of domestic animal: dogs, cats, ferrets,
goats, sheep, birds, snakes, pigs, cattle, horses and rats. Now,
he routinely works on only the first three on the list. He has an
8 year old daughter who wants to be a veterinarian just like her
dad. He really enjoys mountain biking, speed skating, camping with
his daughter, and coaching basketball. In fact, he thinks he's the
Phil Jackson of youth basketball, just because his team of 8 year
olds nearly won the 2002 season championship. He has two clinic
cats: Raven and Trouble; two cats at home: Boogie and Splash, who
have been overheard saying, "Hey, these chipmunks are pretty good
for breakfast, too." He also has a dog named Sally who likes soccer
games, and car rides, but not nail trims.
Professionally speaking, he enjoys challenging medical and surgical
cases, and geriatrics. Most of all, he really enjoys the people
who own and care for pets. "It confirms my faith in the goodness
of people when I observe the care and love that people give to their
pets." says Billy. His favorite animal quote is from Ghandi: (or
was it WC Fields?) "You can tell much about a culture by observing
the way it treats it's animals."
LAURA
(LOLLY) WILSON DVM
Laura
Wilson, DVM graduated from Auburn in 1983. She and her husband, Bobby
owned the clinic from 1981 to 1999, when they sold it to Billy Cox.
Lolly now works here at the clinic on Thursdays and the first Saturday
of each month. In addition to veterinary services, she also teaches
obedience training. When she's not at the clinic, she is home
schooling her children, Daniel, Caleb, Anna, and Ruth. She also raises
Labs and loves to garden. My gosh, woman, slow down! By the way, Bobby
does Christian mission work in Russia and other parts of the world.

A
STANDARD OF CARE
When
you go to your health care provider, you have certain expectations for
your care and treatment. You expect professionalism, knowledge,
respect, and compassion. Why should you expect any less for your pets?
At Meadow Brook Veterinary Hospital, we believe that your pets deserve
those same values that you look for from your doctor. You and your pet
receive only our best.
CONSULT
BEFORE PROCEEDING
Before
we perform any procedure on a pet, we consult with the client. We will
discuss treatment options, possible outcomes, and costs.
While we do not do any procedures nor treatments on a patient that
aren't warranted, we want to make sure that we are doing everything as
cost effectively as possible without diminishing the quality of care
to your satisfaction. We want to make sure that you, the client, are
part of the team that keeps your pet healthy and happy.
INDIVIDUAL
APPROACH
We
treat each case as an individual, because every pet is different. We
are not your typical assembly line veterinary clinic. We listen,
analyze, and devise individualized solutions that are right for you
and your pet.
