  • Billy Cox, DVM

    Veterinarian

Since graduation, I have practiced on nearly every type of domestic animal, but since 1995, it's just been cats and dogs. I have a 25 year old daughter who lives in Crested Butte, Colorado so I really enjoy getting out there. I also enjoy upper New England and the mountains of California. I have 3 cats, Gary, Chief and Mantequilla and a wonderful dog, Bailey.
I am fascinated with crows and ravens and how intelligent they are. Overall, I think the intelligence of all animals is vastly underestimated.
Some of my historical heroes are Aristotle, Frederick Douglass, George Washington, Winston Churchill, Martin Luther King, and Richard Feynman.
Professionally, I enjoy caring for older animals as they can have a variety of problems that require a delicate balance of therapies. Equally, I enjoy puppies and kittens because they are just starting out, and if they get on the right track, they can enjoy a long and happy life. At our clinic, we treat a variety of cases: dental, ophthalmic, cardiopulmonary, orthopedic, dermatological, neurological, GI and urinary. I'm just amazed at how far medicine has come since I was a vet assistant way back in 1979.

My favorite animal quote is from Gandhi: "The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated."
