Billy Cox, DVM
Dr. Billy Cox earned his veterinary degree from the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1986. Following graduation, Dr. Cox gained extensive experience practicing veterinary medicine on nearly every type of domestic animal. Since 1995, he has focused exclusively on cats and dogs.
Dr. Cox enjoys caring for older animals because they have a variety of problems that require a delicate balance of therapies. He equally enjoys caring for puppies and kittens because they are just starting out, and if they get on the right track, they can enjoy a long and happy life. Typical cases that Dr. Cox routinely treats at Meadow Brook Animal Clinic include dental, ophthalmic, cardiopulmonary, orthopedic, dermatological, neurological, GI, and urinary conditions. He is amazed at how far veterinary medicine has come since he was a vet assistant way back in 1979.
When he is not doctoring cats and dogs, Dr. Cox enjoys visiting his daughter in Colorado. He also likes to travel to upper New England and the mountains of California. These locations give Dr. Cox a chance to indulge in his favorite outdoor activities including mountain biking, hiking, and snowboarding.
At home, Dr. Cox has 3 cats, Gary, Chief and Mantequilla, and a wonderful dog named Bailey. Here he can partake in his other hobbies that include Indie music, classical science, French, and the Green Bay Packers on Sundays. Some of his historical heroes are Frederick Douglass, Winston Churchill, Martin Luther King, and Richard Feynman.
Dr. Cox is fascinated by crows and ravens and how intelligent they are. Overall, he thinks the intelligence of all animals is vastly underestimated. His favorite animal quote is from Gandhi: "The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated."
